From Genius Card to Big Idea: How to Brainstorm, Eat and Create at Xin
What if your next meal in Bangalore came with a question, a little help from AI, a table full of food and enough time to turn one thought into a real idea? That is the Genius Card experience at Xin. Whether you arrive with friends, colleagues, family or simply your own curiosity, you can turn a meal at Xin into a mini ideation session. You choose a deck, pick a question, open Mira, brainstorm, eat, sketch, build and eventually submit your idea to Xin. The best part is that you do not need to be an “ideas person” to do it. You just need to be willing to start.
Step 1: Choose Your Genius Card Deck
Start by choosing the kind of question you want to explore. Xin’s Genius Cards are organised into six decks, each designed to take your thinking somewhere different: Planet, People, The Nilgiris, Bangalore, Little Genius and The Long View. Choose Bangalore if you want to rethink something about the city you live in. Pick The Nilgiris if you are thinking about the hills, nature, tourism, culture or local life. Planet takes you towards bigger questions about the world and how we live in it, while People puts human experiences and communities at the centre. Little Genius is designed for younger thinkers and playful minds. And when you want to think beyond the immediate problem and imagine what could happen next, choose The Long View. There is no correct deck. Choose the one that makes you curious enough to pick up the card.
Step 2: Turn the Question Into a Conversation With Our FREE Mira AI
Once you have your question, take it to Mira, Xin’s AI thinking partner. You do not need to arrive with a perfectly formed idea. In fact, you probably should not. Tell Mira what caught your attention about the question, what you already think about it or even why you have no idea where to begin. Mira can help you challenge the question, look at it from different angles and develop possibilities rather than simply handing you an answer. That makes it particularly useful at the beginning of an ideation session, when the interesting part is still taking shape. If you are brainstorming with friends, invite them into the Mira conversation too. One person might see a problem, another might spot an opportunity and someone else might come up with the completely unexpected connection that changes the direction of the discussion. Suddenly, your table is not just having dinner. It is brainstorming together.
Step 3: Feed the Brain While You Feed Yourself
Now comes the very important part: order food. A good brainstorming session deserves good fuel, and Xin gives you plenty to work with. You could start with Banh Mi, try The Bing, share gyoza or dim sum, or settle into one of Xin’s Master Bowls. If you want something playful on the side, explore the drinks, from boba and Vietnamese iced coffee to kombucha. The point is not to create a serious workshop atmosphere. Eat. Talk. Laugh. Disagree. Notice something on the plate. Let the conversation wander. Somewhere between the first bite and the last, your original question may start looking completely different. That is food for thought, quite literally.
Step 4: Make Eight Ideas, Not One Perfect Idea
Now give yourself permission to be prolific. Instead of trying to find one brilliant answer, challenge yourself and your group to come up with eight different ideas for the question. The first idea might be obvious. The second might be impractical. The third might make everyone laugh. Keep going anyway. This is where the design thinking mindset becomes useful. You are not judging every thought as it appears. You are opening the field first and narrowing it later. Eight ideas give you room to explore different users, different solutions, different technologies, different experiences and even completely different interpretations of the original question. The goal is not eight perfect ideas. The goal is eight possible directions.
Step 5: Pick One and Sketch the Prototype
Once you have your eight, choose the one you cannot stop talking about. Now make it visible. Sketch what the idea could actually look like. Draw the experience, product, service, space, app, object or system. Add labels. Show how someone would use it. If your sketch looks terrible, congratulations. You are prototyping, not entering an art competition. A prototype forces an idea out of your head and into the real world. Suddenly, you can see what works, what is missing and what needs to change.
Step 6: Turn the Sketch Into Your Final Idea
Look at your prototype and ask the most useful question you can ask at this stage: How could this be better? Refine the idea. Make the problem clearer. Simplify the solution. Think about who it is for, how it would work and what would make someone actually want to use it. Your final idea does not have to solve the world. It simply needs to be something you believe is worth putting into the world. And that is the moment when a Genius Card stops being an activity and becomes an actual piece of thinking.
Step 7: Submit It to Xin
Finished your idea while you are still at the restaurant? Submit it before you leave. You can also continue the process after your meal and submit your idea online through Xin’s community ecosystem. Xin’s Canvas is built to give diner ideas somewhere to live, with contributions read by a human and ideas shared with the wider community. Every plate you order at Xin also earns a credit to post an idea on the Canvas, and ideas that reach the community threshold can earn a place on the wall and a free bowl.
Step 8: See Where Your Idea Goes
This is where the experience gets exciting. Your idea does not have to disappear into a notebook after dinner. Xin showcases ideas on its online Canvas, where other people can discover them, respond to them and build on them. Some ideas can even move towards becoming real. That means your dinner conversation can become part of a growing collection of thoughts from Xin diners across Koramangala, HSR, Ooty and Coonoor. In Bangalore, you can do the experience at Xin Koramangala or Xin HSR. If you are in the hills, take the same curiosity to Xin Ooty or Xin Coonoor and let the setting influence where your thinking goes.
Your Next Meal Could Be a Brainstorm
The next time you are looking for a Pan Asian restaurant in Bangalore, you could simply come for the food. Or you could choose a Genius Card, bring a question to Mira, invite your friends into the brainstorm, order something delicious, make eight ideas, sketch one, refine it and leave knowing you made something that did not exist when you sat down. That is the little experiment Xin is inviting you to try.
