Behind the Scenes of Xin Coonoor: The People Behind Every 5-Star Table — Xin Journal

There is a lot that guests see when they walk into Xin Coonoor. The food arriving at the table. The warm welcome. The conversations. The tea, the hills, the colours and the energy of a new place finding its rhythm. But behind every one of those moments is a team. And if there is one thing the launch of Xin Coonoor has made us especially proud of, it is the people who made it happen.

Before the doors opened

A restaurant opening is exciting. It is also a little bit nerve-wracking. Before the first guest arrived, our chefs and staff had already spent countless hours getting ready. Recipes had to be understood, stations organised, service routines practised and every little detail considered. Then the doors opened. Suddenly, preparation became real. Guests walked in with curiosity. Tables filled. Orders started moving. The kitchen got busy. The front-of-house team found its rhythm. Everyone had one job in mind: make sure every guest felt welcome and well looked after. And they did.

The people behind the plates

At Xin, food is a big part of the experience, so naturally, our chefs have been at the heart of the launch. From hand-folded gyoza to Bing, from bowls to the many flavours that make Xin what it is, every plate carries the work of someone in the kitchen who cares about getting it right. The first services brought the usual learning curves of a new restaurant. Timing gets tested. Teams adjust. Small things become lessons. What mattered was how quickly everyone responded. Our chefs stayed focused through busy services, supporting one another and making sure the food going out continued to feel like Xin: thoughtful, generous and full of flavour. That consistency is something worth celebrating.

And then there is the welcome

Great food gets people through the door. Great hospitality makes them want to come back. Our front-of-house team has been just as important to the story of Xin Coonoor. They have welcomed first-time guests, answered questions, helped people discover the menu and, most importantly, made the restaurant feel warm. Because hospitality is often found in the smallest moments. A smile when someone arrives. A recommendation when they cannot decide. Checking whether everything is alright. Remembering a detail. Making someone feel comfortable enough to stay a little longer. These things may seem small. Together, they become an experience.

When the reviews started coming in

Then came the messages, comments and reviews. Five-star ratings. Kind words about the food. Praise for the service. Mentions of the welcoming atmosphere and the people who made each visit special. For the team, those reviews meant more than a number. They were a reflection of the work happening behind the scenes every day. Every plate that left the kitchen. Every table that was welcomed. Every question answered. Every busy service is handled with patience and teamwork. The reviews showed us that guests were feeling what we hoped they would feel. They were enjoying Xin. And that made us very, very happy.

A launch is only the beginning

The easiest thing would be to look at the opening and say, “We did it.” But that is not how we see it at Xin. Opening day was a beginning, not an ending. The real work is continuing every time the doors open. Every new guest gives the team another opportunity to create a memorable experience. Every service brings something new to learn. Every review gives us another reason to keep doing what we do with care. That is the promise we want to carry forward. Not just to serve well when the restaurant is new, but to keep showing up with the same energy, warmth and attention months and years from now.

The Xin team, behind every table

Xin has always been about more than food. It is about people coming together around a table. It is about curiosity, conversation and discovery. It is about creating a space where you can enjoy a meal, share an idea and perhaps leave with something new to think about. That is what Feed Your Genius means to us. And none of it happens without the people behind the scenes. So, to our chefs who kept the kitchen moving, to our service team who welcomed every guest, and to everyone who stepped in wherever they were needed: thank you. You made the launch of Xin Coonoor something to be proud of. The five-star reviews are wonderful. But the real win is the team behind them. And we plan to keep earning them, one warm welcome, one thoughtful plate and one happy table at a time.
